Summary: Assists the department with project deliverables for federally funded public health preparedness projects. The position plays in integral support role to ASTHO???s preparedness work for persons with disabilities under the guidance of the Director for Preparedness and Disability Integration. This position will also support other areas of ASTHO???s preparedness portfolio. Areas of work could include but are not limited to data and information systems, inclusive preparedness, emergency management, and medical countermeasures. This role will also support ASTHO???s preparedness and response to emergencies, including COVID-19, providing technical assistance to preparedness stakeholders.
Anticipated salary: $72,000 Extended experience: up to $81,000 if experience exceeds expectations
Principal Functions:
- Supports the Director of Preparedness and Disability Integration with the daily activities of federally funded projects aimed at addressing the needs of people with disabilities and access and functional needs through surveillance systems.
- Develops relevant capacity building and technical assistance tools and resources as needed.
- Leads workgroups and learning communities to provide input on policies and procedures for state-federal coordination in public health preparedness planning and response.
- Liaises with internal teams including the Data Modernization team, Evaluation team, Medicaid team, and Communications team.
- Connects with external partners to promote collaboration.
- Responds to requests for assistance and information from members, affiliates, federal partners, and national organizations.
- Supports the data needs, analysis and visualization for preparedness projects.
- Contributes to grant application, reporting, and grant deliverables for the preparedness portfolio.
- Supports project organization and tracking of subcontracts and invoices.
- Represents ASTHO and the Preparedness program in convenings with stakeholders, work group or committee participation, presenting at and attending conferences and other professional engagements.
- Maintains an active role as a member of the Incident Command Structure for ASTHO emergency responses.
- Manages assigned deliverables independently and uses independent judgment in completing activities while operating under general supervision.

Qualifications:
- Master???s degree in public health, public policy, information sciences, or related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in areas such as disability, preparedness, informatics, or public health.
- Knowledge of public health emergency preparedness and health security-related issues, organizations, and activities.
- Knowledge of preparedness, disability, and data legislation at federal and state levels.
- Excellent organization, writing and verbal communication skills. Ability to present information clearly.
- Ability to use discretion and judgment in dealing with confidential, sensitive, and controversial issues.
- Ability to promptly manage multiple priorities and complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to develop collaborative networks and represent the organization at meetings and conferences as requested.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, database, and other software applications.
- Ability to travel up to 15% of time to attend meetings, conferences and participate in site visits.
**As a member of the Health Security/Preparedness team, the incumbent in the position will be required to have a greater level of on-call status and accessibility including nights and weekends. During responses to emergencies Health Security/Preparedness staff may be required to work additional hours, and/or cancel or postpone scheduled leave time or work-related travel.
