Summary: Supports activities associated with ASTHO’s COVID-19 response and recovery effort. Responsible for policy analysis, technical assistance, and project implementation on assigned topics. Assists with planning, implementation, and evaluation of project activities and deliverables.
Support ASTHO COVID-19 response hub and tactical team as directed by COVID-19 and Immunization program directors.
Support COVID-19 and Immunization program directors to ensure execution and implementation of project workplan activities.
Develop ASTHO capacity building products such as reports, issue briefs, and blogs related to emerging COVID-19, immunization, and infectious disease issues.
Assist project directors with grant proposal development, including identifying new funding opportunities, conceptualizing project activities and deliverables meet member and funder needs.
Respond to requests for assistance and information from members, affiliates, and national organizations by participating as a member of the technical assistance and situational awareness team within ASTHO’s COVID-19 response structure.
Conduct rapid development, analysis, and summary of research and original data collection activities with states.
Conduct legislative policy analysis on immunization, outbreak response and recovery, infectious disease and other priority issues for members, affiliates, and national organizations.
Contribute to project reporting activities including progress reports, project officer updates, and federal funder requests.
Develop and manage evaluation of project activities and outcomes and other quality improvement initiatives.
Assist with ASTHO website updates for the Emerging Infectious Disease team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Some travel may be required
Master’s degree in public health preferred
2 years of relevant work experience at a state or local public health department
Experience representing a state agency, association, or member-based organization is a plus.
Strong written and oral communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically with a variety of colleagues, funders, and state and federal officials.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, manage multiple projects, and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Ability to effectively translate and disseminate information to various groups and audiences.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Basic knowledge of audio and video conference (webinar) platforms.
As a member of the Health Security Unit working on the COVID-19 response, this staff position may require a greater level of on-call status and accessibility during public health emergencies.
