Summary: General: Responsible for coordinating, planning, organizing and implementing a specific service. Responsible for fiscal management, performance improvement activities, and compliance with all relevant policies/procedures and regulations. Manages all aspects of personnel processes. Ensures regulatory compliance, and develops policies and procedures to support organizational and regulatory requirements. Monitors parameters in area of expertise and then coordinates performance improvement and training activities. Communicates information effectively. Ability to make timely decisions and manager change process. Must interface with all departments as part of the management team. Works effectively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve objectives of the program. Specific: Responsible for oversight of facilities and equipment. Plans, develops and directs all activities in the hospital relating to general safety, security, fire protection, accident prevention, emergency management, OSHA and regulatory compliance, and accident investigation. The Safety Officer has the responsibility to immediately notify the appropriate Medical Center management to an identified safety hazard, that may pose an imminent risk to life or property. Immediate action may be taken when a condition arises that threatens life/health or threatens damage to equipment or buildings. The Safety Officer will coordinate those actions with the appropriate clinical staff to ensure patient safety.
Other information: Will consider candidate with five years relevant experience.Prefer experience with development of safety policies and procedures in a healthcare setting.Possess basic understanding of safety regulations and codes from Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA and other applicable regulatory agencies. Responsibilities: Responsible for operations of all off sites and main campus. Oversees mechanics, utility workers and support staff for all maintenance and office issues. Assumes Director's responsibilities in his absence. Manages the timekeeping/payroll system for Plant Operations. Oversees daily operations of Facilities for all aspects of routine maintenance that can include project management. Directs and manages engineering staff, general contractors to maintain general safety and functions of the hospital and off sites. Formulates and implements the Medical Center's Safety Program. Ensures that the Medical Center is in compliance with all regulatory agencies in regard to safety. This includes at least annual scored Joint Commission Mock Survey. Coordinates all Environment of Care activities, contingency plans, training and evaluations in the system including regular periodic drills and inspections. Interprets and enforces Life Safety Code in accordance with NFPA and Joint Commission standards. Assesses for and initiates interim life safety measures when applicable. Serve as the internal consultant to develop proactive safety initiatives which measurably reduce accidents, incidents and hazards among patients, team members, and visitors. Chairs the Environment of Care and Safety Committees and may be a subcommittee team leader. Maintains liaison with safety personnel of other institutions and with other regulatory agencies. Escorts external agencies on all safety inspections.
