Summary:  The Senior Analyst, Islands Chronic Disease and Health Improvement assists the Director of Islands Health Improvement with implementing federally and privately funded projects important to Island health officials who serve territories and freely associated states in the area of health improvement, with a focus on advancing COVID-19 health equity, healthy aging, and chronic disease prevention.

Principal Functions: 

• Provides project management support to ensure the completion of grant deliverables, including webinars, learning communities, microlearning modules, issue briefs, blogs, and other capacity building activities and resources. This includes managing timelines, engaging with contractors, disseminating resources, identifying and communicating risks, and communicating progress to team. 

• Collaborate with ASTHO???s Island Support, Health Improvement and Healthy Aging, and Chronic Disease Prevention teams regularly to coordinate and align activities with peer Senior Analysts and Directors on respective teams.  

• Provide subject matter expertise to island health agencies and stakeholders on health improvement issues, including COVID-19 equity, healthy aging, and chronic disease prevention. 

• Assist in developing funding proposals, including conceptualizing deliverables for funding proposals that meet member needs. 

• Support administrative tasks, including adding activities to ASTHO???s project tracker, completing requests for cross-cutting support, and arranging meetings with other teams to discuss collaborative projects.  

• Contribute to project reporting and briefing materials for funders, ASTHO members, and senior staff. 

• Respond to requests for technical assistance and information from members, affiliates, and national organizations. 

• Assist with the evaluation of project activities and outcomes. 

• Manage logistics for virtual, in-person, and hybrid meetings, including conference calls, workshops, and webinars. This may include scheduling, monitoring registration, coordinating team roles, designing agendas and background materials, producing meeting summaries, and other tasks as needed. 

• Establish and foster strategic relationships with national partners. 

• Represent ASTHO at meetings and conferences. 

• Provide supervision of a graduate-level intern when funding is available. 

• Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

• Master???s degree in public health or related field.  

• 2-3 years of prior relevant experience. 

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience that advances health equity and systems change. 

• Understanding, sensitivity, and appreciation for equity, cultural humility, and inclusiveness. 

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically with a variety of colleagues, funders, state/island and federal officials. 

• Strong writing and editing skills. 

• Knowledge of state, tribal, island, or local public health. 

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, manage multiple projects, and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. 

• Ability to develop project outcome measures, analyze progress, evaluate outcomes, and forecast needs. 

• Ability to translate and disseminate information to various groups and audiences. 

• Ability to exercise own judgment and consider creative courses of action to get the job done. 

• Ability to travel within service area. 

• Ability to participate in calls after normal business hours with project participants in the U.S. Affiliated Pacific Islands.  

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
