Memorial Hermann Health System, based in Houston, Texas seeks an experienced business leader with strong experience in facilities and support services to serve as Senior Vice President, Facilities Management (SVP). This is a newly defined role, where the SVP will have the opportunity to join one of the most well respected healthcare institutions and manage a robust portfolio comprised of diverse real estate and facilities teams across the Greater Houston region.
Memorial Hermann Health System is a fully integrated health system, with more than 270 care delivery sites. The System is committed to delivering safe, high quality, patient-centered care and offers clinical expertise, innovation, and cutting-edge technology to all patients. With a specialized and affiliated medical staff and more than 28,000 employees, Memorial Hermann provides compassionate service while advancing health in Southeast Texas. Memorial Hermann has been serving the community for more than 113 years and continues to evolve to meet the challenges of today’s complex healthcare environment. Together, care delivery sites of Memorial Hermann have built a reputation for excellence in cancer, heart and vascular, neuroscience, outpatient imaging, rehabilitation, research and innovation, sports medicine and orthopedics, trauma, bariatrics, behavioral health, post-acute care, and women’s and children’s services.
The SVP is critical in the effective leadership of all sites across the System. The SVP and her/his team provide leadership and oversight to the real estate, security, engineering and facilities across a robust portfolio of owned and leased space. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and supported by three Vice Presidents, the SVP is responsible for leading a large and dynamic multi- generational workforce across a broad geography of sites. The SVP will need to engage with a variety of organizational stakeholders, from hospital president's and operating officers, to the senior leadership of Memorial Hermann, community leaders and business partners. The SVP should bring previous leadership experience that will enable them to quickly build credibility with a diverse workforce. In doing so, she/he must establish themselves as a visible and solutions-oriented leader, assessing existing dashboards and metrics in supporting the CFO, and look to build consensus and advance initiatives in alignment with the broader strategic plan.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong facilities and construction background gained from years of experience in the healthcare setting. They will have sound knowledge of best practices in facilities leadership, understand how to lead a diverse workforce, and lead large-scale, capital improvement projects. The next leader will also help in identifying future needs of a consolidated leadership role. She/he will need to maximize efficiencies and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Candidates should bring a balance of both strategic and operational leadership and understand how these departments align with the overall strategic plan. Candidates need to be comfortable presenting to large stakeholder groups and engaging with all levels of an organization.
