Focal Point has an immediate opening for a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our Supply Chain team in Operations! The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies and spend management programs to influence the key metrics of lead time, cost, inventory, and quality. The successful candidate will be required to manage the supply base, supporting the business on initiatives related to productivity, supply chain, and product development. This individual will be responsible to find and qualify new suppliers, negotiate commercial terms, drive and influence supplier performance, and resolve open issues. They will work with the buying staff to ensure sourcing strategies are being executed to achieve Supply Chain goals. This role will need to work cross functionally in order to influence leaders and other internal customers to help drive and execute broad business decisions.
The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be accountable for a higher level of subject matter expertise, leadership, and contribution to the development of the end-to-end supply chain. They will develop policies, technologies and tools, objectives, tactical plans and procedures for the operation of procurement activities. This position will supervise and mentor the buying staff in sourcing methodologies, tools, and negotiations.
Role & Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing and Procurement:
Engage in reviews with the business and supply base, to foster collaboration and cooperation. Establishment of relationships with functional and business leaders to ensure category strategies meet the business goals and objectives
Develop, execute, and oversee Sourcing strategies for multiple complex commodities, new technologies, and new product development initiatives. Create Sourcing Strategies striving for lowest possible overall cost, consistent with quality and delivery expectations
Responsible for all commercial activities including supplier relationship management but not limited to contracts and agreements. Lead or oversee negotiations with key suppliers. Lead analysis of markets, economic and internal data for cost mining. Monitor and report on marketplace index costs and make strategic purchasing recommendations to minimize cost and risk. Perform commodity risk assessments. Support the development of dashboards to manage key categories
Drive Supplier Qualification and Rationalization. Create and implement Supplier Development Plans
Establish KPM's that manage supplier conformance of performance to quality, delivery, quantity, service and cost reduction expectations
Supplier and commodity spend management, ROI and PPV tracking
Primary driver within the Sourcing Team for identification and delivery of material cost savings projects. Responsible for eliminating roadblocks and challenges and delivering savings projects on-time. Partnership with Value Engineering to conduct analysis of purchased components and materials
Identify and support Supply Chain initiatives, such as Lead Time Reduction, Inventory Reduction, Service Level Improvements
Annual budgeting and standard cost setting
Work directly and collaboratively with Engineering leaders and Commodity Managers as well as suppliers to identify technical synergy opportunities on existing products across Legrand North and Central America (LNCA)
Proactively work with suppliers; evaluate and validate their technical recommendations
Evaluate technical sourcing and VAVE opportunities with Engineering team and Commodity Managers
Provide recommended changes to engineering team on product drawings/documents and/or CAD models for proposed product design changes
Develop a highly functioning, responsive and flexible purchasing team. Responsible for effectively leading all aspects of team performance management. Prioritize staff and category management workloads to meet product needs/objectives in all areas. Develop and train staff to ensure high skill levels and succession planning
Enhance supplier performance; ensure purchase requirements; monitor supplier compliance relative to pricing, contractual obligation, delivery, scheduling and productivity
RFQ/RFP. Part qualifications
Institute lean purchasing which is integrated into our total value chain; and create a future value stream in the procurement process. Create and maintain a flow of information while establishing a pull of information and products.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management Concentration, or equivalent experience. MBA preferred.
8 years’ experience in Sourcing with 3-5 years in manage/leadership roles
Global sourcing experience in Electrical / Electronic products preferred
Microsoft office software proficiency (excel, word, power point, etc.).
JD Edwards ERP systems experience preferred
ISM CPSM certification preferred
APICS CPIM / CSCP a plus
